What to do with your summer

Hey Riverbats. Are you excited about the summer vacation but have no idea what to do with all this free time? 

Well, look no further because I’ve got you covered. ACC offers a huge amount of fun and unique classes you can use to impress friends, families and first dates. Interested in cooking? There’s a class for that. Interested in plants? There’s a class for that. Are you passionate about your art? There’s a class for that. For anything else, there’s ACC. 

Do you love food? More than just eating it?  Coming to a Summer near you on July 13th: Say Cheese: Cheesemaking (BSKX 3064), where you’ll spend time learning about the process of making cheese. The class is a one-day demonstration of how cheese is made.You’ll learn about the fundamentals of cheesemaking from milking cows and goats and then watch it processed to the table. If you’re looking to expand your love for cheese, this is the class for you! Looking for an opportunity to learn while in a beautiful historic Homestead? This is the class for you!

“Well, what about plants?” How about Botanical printmaking! (AGCX 3020) On Friday, June 21st, learn to identify all sorts of plants by their roots, stems, buds, and flowers. You’ll take photographs which you’ll then use to learn and create art through the process of Linoleum printmaking. Each student will get to leave with a unique print of their own creation that day. Not into carving linoleum to make prints? Try Floral Painting (CRFX 4081) on June 5th. This workshop will teach you the methods of painting beautiful acrylic paintings. Your floral paintings will leave your friends flabbergasted.

If you’ve already got a passion for the arts and are looking for a way to market. Why not try The Art of Selling Your Art (BSKX 5006) or Make Social Media Work for Your Business (BSKX 5017)? These classes will teach you the fundamentals of making money off your passions. No matter your level of expertise or the product you’ve got there’s a way to market it. Come learn about the do’s and don’ts and the in’s and outs to marketing your product in the physical and digital world. 

What about a skill you can learn that will not only be interesting but you’ll also have to convince most everyone that it’s a real word? I present Flintknapping(CRFX 4031). If you like working with your hands and learning something really unique. This is a beginners guide to the art of working stone. You’ll learn the ancient skill of making arrowheads, which aided Native Texans for well over one thousand years, all the way to gun flints and more. Come get a taste for cutting stone and adding Flintknapper to your resume.
